Better Than Ezra was formed by Kevin Griffin and fellow students at Louisiana State in Baton Rouge in 1987. It rocked the airwaves in the 1990s with several hits – "Good" hit No. 1 on a Billboard list in 1995. It is still beloved for its pop-flavored alt-rock and keeps a busy touring schedule, much to the delight of its diehard fans, who refer to themselves as "Ezralites." Though most of the personnel have changed since the band's founding, Griffin, lead vocalist and a guitarist, remains the frontman. As is too often the case in rock bands whose members are all-in, one of its original musicians, lead guitarist Joel Rundell, was lost to suicide.
